Building Physics I ( Bauphysik I)

Bachelor - 1st semester - compulsory subject - 2 credits

Aims:

The aim of the module is to teach basic knowledge about issues that are essential for the indoor environmental quality. Further, the capability of applying the gained knowledge in the context of the built environment will be trained - particularly within the assignments - in order to identify comfort aspects in their different dimensions. The module „Bauphysik I“ introduces into the field of outdoor and indoor climate as well as comfort. The main topics are climatic parameters and their relevance for the climate adapted design and construction, thermal comfort and air quality, perception of light and visual comfort as well as noise perception and room acoustics.

  • outdoor climate: annual and diurnal changes of climate parameters, climate conscious design
  • indoor climate, comfort: physiological and psychological climate perception and adaption, thermal comfort, indoor air quality
  • light: basics of light and light perception, design aspects regarding  daylight and artificial light
  • acoustics: basics of sound propagation, design aspects regarding  acoustic quality

Frequency:

Each academic year - winter term

Form of Lesson and Learning :

Lecture and exercise.
